(More customer reviews)I've had this antenna for a couple of weeks now, and it only retrieved traffic info for two days.Since then, it connects to either of two radio stations in Atlanta and reports "no delays on route", even when I'm stuck in a two-hour traffic jam on I-285.Switching stations results in the "green dot" on the traffic monitor, and a further result of "no delays on route".

Several calls to TomTom tech support have been fruitless.The last time, they claimed their traffic server was down indefinitely.That would be bad enough, but the RDS-TMC information is not controlled by TomTom's service, it comes from Clear Channel's Traffic Network.The traffic server is only for their GPRS/Mobile Phone/TomTom Plus traffic service.

I had tried the TomTom Plus service prior to ordering the antenna, and it worked fairly well (when the traffic server was up) but I found the $19.95/month charge that T-Mobile added on to my bill to be a bit excessive when this antenna was supposed to do a comparable job.

I'm sending it back.If it was just an intermittent outage, I could understand that.Two solid weeks of "no traffic on route" while sitting in the I-285 parking lot for thirty-seven miles each way is ridiculous.

It has more than tripple the witdth of the more expensive K40 laser diffuser that I also happen to own, and I can tell you from experience this is the way to go, as long as you don't mind the display unit. That is the only thing I would dare to even call a negative, but it is easily consealed and looks nice anyway, and come on you can put up with the tiny display especially after the first time this thing saves your rear! You won't complain ever again!

(More customer reviews)This little piece of metal with the synthetic ball mount is expensive but does the trick nicely. It is meant to mount on the passenger's side but I flipped mine upside down and mounted it on the driver's side (2010 model) with no problem. This kit doesn't come with any actual device mount just the platform to mount it. I feel that the parts are far too expensive for what you get because it deserves four stars simply because it does what it is supposed to with no one else making an alternative that comes close.

(More customer reviews)I bought this on Amazon earlier this year.I use it to hold my 3GS on my road bike.It's worked great for 500+ miles over roads with the occasional major bump.I've had no problems at all - not with the iPhone detaching, not with mounting it to the bike - it's working perfectly. A few seconds ago I ordered a second one of these for my other bike.

A few notes, to put this into context for others:

There is a little clip on the top that is the mechanism that fully secures your iPhone into the holster.If you don't push your iPhone firmly when you insert it in the holster, it's sometimes possible for that clip to catch partially on the SIM card slot on the top of the iPhone.If you're not paying attention, you may think it's clipped in correctly, but it's not.This happened to me once... once I realized this, I just give the phone an extra press when I clip it in, and it's fine.This isn't a serious issue, just something to be aware of.

I've had no problems at all with the iPhone coming unclipped.I've ridden through nasty potholes, over tree roots, and manhole lid covers that have flatted my tires, but my phone hasn't budged.

I've found that it's possible to use Google Maps, iMapMyRide and other GPS/workout apps, texting, and the iPod with the phone on the handlebars.I've been on concalls using headphones.It works fine, as long as you can overcome the wind noise in the microphone.Obviously, don't do any of this stuff in traffic...but if it's safe for you to do, the mount works fine to enable the iPhone to be used this way.
